Chronology

Events between 1900 and 1983 for which a date is recorded in a source. At the end of each period is a line stating which source that period rests on and where the sources conflict. Events for which no source gives a date are not here — the sequence has not been filled out with estimates.

Two sources

The dates of birth, death and the unveiling of the statue come from the inscriptions in the college grounds; the rest of the sequence comes from the 1982 booklet. 13 June and 1 November 1943 are recorded identically in both.

Where the two conflict, the inscription is treated as deciding and the booklet’s reading has not been erased. The full record is on the References page and in the list of discrepancies.

Sources

The dates on this page come from two sources: birth, death and the unveiling from the statue inscriptions (MON-001), the remainder from pages 4–31 of Om Prakash Gandhi’s booklet (PUB-001). 13 June 1943 and 1 November 1943 are recorded in both.
